PREFACE
PREFACE
The twenty-first century has been characterized by profound transformations in political systems, international relations, security paradigms, and geopolitical structures. Rapid global developments, shifting balances of power, emerging security challenges, and evolving forms of political authority have generated renewed debates on sovereignty, leadership, legitimacy, resistance, and regional cooperation. Understanding these complex dynamics requires interdisciplinary perspectives that integrate political history, international relations, political theory, security studies, and geopolitical analysis.
This volume brings together scholarly contributions that examine the multifaceted nature of political transformation from both historical and contemporary perspectives. The chapters explore a wide range of themes, including political leadership during periods of crisis, the construction of legitimacy within political systems, the influence of terrorism and security discourses on global politics, the geopolitical significance of strategic transportation corridors, and the philosophical foundations of sovereignty, power, and resistance.
Several contributions focus on influential political figures and leadership practices that have shaped historical developments and institutional change. Through analyses of parliamentary activities, political biographies, and leadership narratives, the volume highlights the dynamic relationship between individual agency and broader political structures. These studies demonstrate how political leaders influence decision-making processes, regional development, institutional continuity, and the formation of political legitimacy during periods of social and political transformation.
The volume also offers critical theoretical perspectives on sovereignty, authority, and resistance. By engaging with concepts such as the state of exception, bare life, political legitimacy, and collective resistance, the chapters provide valuable insights into the challenges faced by societies experiencing conflict, occupation, political instability, and uncertainty. These discussions contribute to contemporary scholarly debates on the relationships among power, law, identity, and human agency.
Another major focus of this book is regional and global security. The chapters examine the long-term consequences of terrorism, the transformation of security paradigms in the post-Cold War era, and the emergence of new geopolitical realities across Eurasia. Particular attention is devoted to the strategic importance of transportation corridors, regional integration initiatives, energy security, and the evolving roles of states within an increasingly complex international system. Collectively, these studies illustrate how geopolitical developments continue to shape economic cooperation, diplomatic relations, regional stability, and international governance.
Taken together, the contributions presented in this volume demonstrate that contemporary political developments cannot be adequately understood through a single disciplinary perspective. Leadership, sovereignty, security, legitimacy, resistance, and geopolitics are deeply interconnected phenomena that influence both domestic political processes and the broader international order. By combining empirical research with theoretical inquiry, this volume offers valuable insights for scholars, policymakers, graduate students, and all readers interested in understanding the complexities of contemporary political and geopolitical developments.
We hope that this book will serve as a valuable academic resource and contribute meaningfully to ongoing discussions in political science, international relations, political history, security studies, geopolitical research, and related disciplines. We extend our sincere gratitude to all contributing authors for their scholarly dedication, intellectual rigor, and valuable contributions. Their work has significantly enriched this volume and strengthened its contribution to contemporary academic literature.
