Description

Education has long functioned as a transformative force shaping societies, cultures, identities, and modes of performance across both historical and contemporary contexts. In an era marked by rapid globalization, technological acceleration, cultural mobility, and evolving pedagogical paradigms, education extends beyond formal instruction to become a dynamic site of social transformation and knowledge production. The present volume, Education as a Transformative Force: Intersections of Knowledge, Culture, Identity, and Performance, brings together interdisciplinary studies that examine education as both a structural system and a cultural practice influencing individuals and societies at multiple levels.

Educational policy reform and pedagogical transformation constitute a central theme of this book. The chapter titled “The Century of Türkiye Education Model and Beyond: Transformations in English Language Teaching from 2018 to 2025” critically analyzes recent educational reforms in Türkiye, with particular attention to curriculum design, language policy, and instructional innovation in English language teaching. By situating national educational transformation within broader global trends, this study demonstrates how education policy functions as a strategic instrument for cultural positioning, international competitiveness, and identity formation.

The development of cognitive competencies and institutional leadership is addressed in “Document Analysis of Studies on Critical Thinking with Teachers and School Administrators.” This chapter presents a systematic review of existing research on critical thinking, highlighting the pivotal roles of educators and school leaders in cultivating analytical reasoning, reflective practice, and informed decision-making. It emphasizes critical thinking as a foundational competency for contemporary education systems navigating increasing complexity and change.

Cultural identity and representation are examined through literary and media analysis in “Transformation of Immigrants’ Identity as Represented in In the Ditch and My Cleaner.” This chapter explores narratives of migration, belonging, and identity reconstruction, illustrating how educational and cultural texts serve as spaces in which social integration, exclusion, and hybridity are negotiated. Identity transformation is thus situated within broader discussions of multiculturalism and transnational experience.

The intersection of education, performance, and biological determinants is explored in “Genetic Polymorphisms in Wrestling.” Offering a scientific perspective on athletic performance, this chapter investigates genetic factors influencing strength, endurance, and competitive capacity. By bridging sports science, genetics, and performance education, the study contributes to evidence-based approaches in physical education and talent identification and development.

Finally, the cultural and symbolic dimensions of knowledge transmission are examined in “The Religious Origins of Sacred Numbers and Their Reflections in Modern Recreational Activities.” This chapter traces the historical and religious significance of sacred numbers and analyzes their contemporary manifestations in recreational and cultural practices. By connecting belief systems, symbolic knowledge, and modern leisure activities, the study highlights the enduring influence of cultural heritage on educational processes and social behavior.

Collectively, the chapters in this volume demonstrate how education operates at the intersection of knowledge production, cultural meaning, identity formation, and performance optimization. Integrating perspectives from education policy, cognitive science, literary studies, genetics, sports science, and cultural history, this book offers a multidimensional understanding of education as a transformative force. It is intended as a valuable resource for researchers, educators, policymakers, and graduate students seeking to examine the evolving roles of education in shaping individuals and societies in a rapidly changing world.
