Description

Chemistry and Energy has become an increasingly larger part of our lives, both in industry and in daily life. This book aims to present different perspectives and highlight innovations in energy issues studied in the field of corrosion and electrochemistry, which is one of the subjects studied in the field of physical chemistry, a sub-branch of chemistry.

The first chapter includes the definition of corrosion, detailed explanation of the types of corrosion and the effect of corrosion on metals. In addition, detailed information is given about the effects of corrosion on the environment, the effects of corrosion on industrial metals, corrosion protection methods, and the selection of metals according to their areas of use in the industry.

In the second chapter, the use of inhibitors, a widely used method for protecting metals against corrosion, is explained. The use of bioinhibitors due to their positive effects on the environment is explained. The role of bioinhibitors as a sustainable response to the climate crisis and their areas of use in industry are outlined. Future changes and impacts on this issue are discussed in detail.

In the third chapter, the effect of protective coating on the surface to protect magnesium alloys against atmospheric corrosion was investigated. The mechanism of the protective film formed by the sol-gel method with silane compounds was investigated and its protective effect was proven by electrochemical experiments.

In the fourth chapter, the RSM approach for green hydrogen production is explained. In order to optimize the hydrogen gas production, Response Surface Methodology (RSM) has been systematically applied with the central composite design (CCD) approach and the obtained results have been explained in detail. Thus, different perspectives have been created for obtaining hydrogen, which is an alternative energy to fossil fuels.

Our aim is to raise awareness among researchers and industry about the adverse environmental conditions caused by the increasing world population vs degrading metal source and fossil fuel demand. The aim of this book is to develop an in-depth understanding of corrosion and its prevention, and to raise awareness of resource conservation and environmental protection. Each chapter is designed to advance current knowledge and pave the way for future research and practical applications. This book aims to be an indispensable resource for researchers, academics, industrial chemists, engineers and students working on applications of electrochemistry, a sub branch of chemistry. We sincerely hope that the insights and innovations presented here will have a lasting and positive impact on the industry and the environment.
Sincerely,
